Press Release

Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics 2005 kicks off Wednesday amid predictions of enormous prospects for the industry following the textile quota abolition. Over 560 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions including Austria, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong China, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Portugal, Switzerland, Taiwan China, Thailand, Turkey and the UK have chosen the show to showcase their latest apparel textiles products. Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics 2005 will also feature seminars to educate and inform the visitors. The fair will run for three days until Friday 1 April at Beijing Exhibition Centre.

Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics 2005 will house a wide array of fabrics from all over the world from mid-range products for mass market clothing to quality fabrics for upmarket fashion and functional fabrics for sports and outdoor wear.

Market leaders who will be present at the show include fashion fabric suppliers such as Deveaux, Hield, Miroglio and Raymond, functional fabrics manufacturers like 3M, Schoeller and the special fibres producer Lenzing AG and Huafu. In addition, there will be six national/group pavilions: France, Germany, Italy, Korea and Taiwan China and Thailand.

“We see good opportunities for Schoeller in the high-end leisure, sportswear and fashion segments in China”, stated Urs Wicki, Export Manager of Schoeller, one of the European exhibitors. “China is a huge and fast growing country and now the time seems to be right for our premium high-tech fabrics. One of our goals now is to analyse the market needs in China north and the north-east regions and we believe that Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics 2005 is just the perfect forum for that. Fabrics are still a very sensitive kind of goods, which one must see, touch and feel.”

To tap the growing Chinese market, the European funded Smatchinatex have organised a matchmaking event between small and medium sized enterprises from Germany, Austria, The Netherlands and the Czech Republic and their Chinese counterparts. A number of European and Chinese SMEs have been identified and selected and the participants will enter into the fourth and final round of meetings at Intertextile Beijing Apparel Fabrics on 1 April.

The organisers have enhanced the fair by scheduling a series of industry-related seminars. The topics will range from a presentation of the colour and womenswear trends for Spring Summer 2006 by Danielle de Diesbach of China Textile Information Centre to a presentation of the Thinsulate insulation product by 3M. The other seminars will focus on the latest market and products information.
