The third Yarn Expo in Beijing ended on a high note
Dynamic Chinese market, a big draw for foreign exhibitors
Manufacturers of high quality and innovative products especially happy with fair results

The third Yarn Expo in Beijing wrapped up last week after a busy three-day run at a new venue: the China World Trade Centre.

Over 110 exhibitors from 10 countries were present, displaying yarn and fibre products for apparel and home textiles. Looking better and brighter than before, the fair ended on a high note.

The dynamic Chinese market and its potential for future sales was clearly the biggest draw for foreign exhibitors, and many came to meet agents and dealers in China, to make direct sales, and to create awareness about their company and brand.

"This is our third time at Yarn Expo and as always we are very pleased with the results," said Mr. Johan Vantomne from Procotex, a Belgian linen manufacturer. "The show gives us the unique opportunity to meet our regular buyers in one place at one time. It’s also a good venue for us to find potential clients."

"China covers 70% of our market and our participation in the fair is part of our overall marketing strategy," said Mr. Jean-Christophe Ponsin from Novalin, a French flax/linen fibres and yarns producer. "We opened an office in Shanghai in January and we are now starting to promote our company name in this market. Our impression of the fair is very good.”

Mr. Nicola Sansour S. from the Textiles del Sur SAC of Peru, a first time participant, agreed: "This fair is perfect for us. We have been selling our wool to the Chinese market for about five years as we recognised the country's potential early on. It is always a good idea to participate at local trade fairs such as this one in order to make more contacts. We are very happy with the results.”

Manufacturers of high quality and innovative products were especially happy with the feedback from domestic as well as overseas visitors. "Our fancy yarns are always at the forefront of the global trends. We believe that we have a real chance to do well in this huge market," said Mr. Ashvini Mehta of Suriraj Yarns from India. "China’s economy is growing very quickly, and we don’t want to miss this chance. Yarn Expo gives us the opportunity to get a better feeling of the China market and create visibility for our name."

Domestic exhibitors also felt it was important to be present at Yarn Expo Beijing 2006 to gain product exposure and gather market intelligence.

"We came to Yarn Expo to introduce our new product: Optium, a new stretchable wool," said Mr. Yajun Lu of Worsted Spinning & Optim Plant, Innor Mongolia King Deer Cashmere of China. "The feedback we have received from buyers has been very good. I am confident that some of the contacts we have made here will become long term customers.”

Mr. Wang Xiaodong of Taicang No. 2 Cotton Industry from China also commented on the positive response his products received at the show: "We came here after a recommendation from a client and we don't regret our decision. Our fibres made of corn and bamboo have attracted many buyers including some good contacts from Japan and Korea. We also found the fair to be very professional and well organised.”

Mr. Gao Zhuo of Wenzhou Huihao Flax Textile Co, another domestic exhibitor commented on the high level of internationality and the enthusiastic business mood of the fair: "The visitor flow to our booth has been very good. We have made a lot of new contacts including overseas buyers. Our objective for this show was to boost our sales and I think my colleagues would agree with me when I say that our goals have been met."

Products included a wide range of fibres and yarns from the basic to the more specialised, such as fibres incorporating functions, environmentally friendly fibres using recycled textile materials, fibres made of soybean and milk protein as well as bamboo.

“The fair continues to offer the diversity of products sought after by the industry,” commented Ms. Annie Ma, Group Manager for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “The range of products on display at this show grows each year and visitors come here specifically to source new and innovative items.”
